Married to a woman and gay – or think you might be? Men find themselves in mixed-orientation marriages for a variety of reasons. Some men don’t come to understand their desire for intimacy with men until well after they have entered into a heterosexual marriage. Other men may have suspected they were attracted to men, but decided they could fight the “urge,” perhaps to make their future spouse, their families or society happy.
I work with clients in ways that are nonjudgmental, informative and supportive to help individuals and couples make good choices that increase their capacity for intimacy. I’ve worked with a number of married men, either in individual therapy our couples counseling with their spouse. Some men must leave the marriage to establish a life that is true for them. Other men find they are able to find meaning and fulfillment within the marriage.
When appropriate, I also work with the spouses of gay men to help them clarify their own needs and options.
If you would like support and encouragement to create and sustain the best life possible for yourself, I’m ready to help.
